Since leaving the corporate world, I made the decision that I didn’t really want to go back. I didn’t like being stuck in an office all day. I hated having to drag myself out of bed to do work that had long since worn at me, day in and day out, for 40 hours a week. The problem I immediately ran into was well that’s all well and good, but how will you pay for anything? I had to move fast. I did enough in emergency funds to keep myself running, and I signed up for COBRA benefits to keep my health coverage going in the interim as well.

Thus far I’ve attacked my income problem from a number of fronts. For one, I write more now than I have ever written. I constantly peruse cragslist, monster, and problogger for upcoming potential projects. I scour the digital point forums for new writing work and look to sell advertising on my niche portfolio of sites. It pays the bills, but I’m not saving and investing like I want to be. It’s nerveracking, but in the end it makes sense to push forward.
